The Lions

Here's some photos of the lions I'll be with hanging out with in just a few short days. There's currently 14 lion cubs, and I'll be lucky enough to bottle feed them! Are these gorgeous creatures or what?

The purpose of this program is rehabilitation and release of African lions, on a continent where the lion population has been dwindling drastically and is currently listed as "vulnerable." Habitat loss and conflict with humans have been the lion's biggest enemies. The map below shows the lion population decrease and distribution both historically and currently. Map courtesy of The African Lion Environmental Research Trust (ALERT), which is the group I'll be volunteering for in Zimbabwe.
