The Battle at Kruger
This story is a few years old, but I'm surprised whenever I talk about it and people have never heard of it. If you haven't already watched this on YouTube, you definitely should check it out. It's a epic battle at Kruger National Park in Africa involving Cape Buffalo, a price of lions, and a few crocodiles. And don't worry if you're sensitive about animal videos. This one has a happy ending, I promise.
After the amateur video was filmed in 2004 by two tourists on safari, it was subsequently uploaded to YouTube and the story took off from there, The media coverage surrounding the video literally exploded and the two filmmakers found themselves in great demand for interviews and other opportunities. National Geographic even sent the two back to Africa to make a documentary based on the video. Talk about being in the right place at the right time with your videocam.
Here's the original video as uploaded on YouTube - The Battle at Kruger:
In case you need a bigger Battle at Kruger fix, they've also created a website dedicated to the video with more information that you can find here:
I found an interesting wildlife-themed website today called Wild Facts; here's the link:
This would be a great site for kids writing a paper about a certain type of animal or anyone just interested in facts about the wildlife that share our world. Plus there's just some fun information there.
